Just Another WordPress Blog
We’re currently playing with the latest Beta release of WordPress 3.9, the devs over at WordPress have trumped themselves again, adding some brand new features to make managing your WordPress site easier. The Interface looks as beautiful as ever, continuing the theme from the 3.8 update. The Visual Editor has been tweaked and includes one feature that seems so simple but has been crying out for improvement: the ability to view a live preview of your Image Gallery as it will appear in your post. The drag and drop functionality has been extended to allow you to drop media (now including Video + Audio files) directly into the Editor. These will upload directly and be inserted into your post, quick as a snap.
The new WordPress 3.9 is delivering over 200 changes including improved auto-save features, live widget previews alongside the usual performance improvements – all to help WordPress remain the world’s favourite CMS. It’s due for release mid-April, and we’ll be updating all our sites accordingly to take advantage of the new features!
As WordPress release major updates to their CMS every 3-4 months, we’re already looking forward to version 4.0 in August. New features are chosen by the community, and the staff and volunteers who contribute to WordPress. While there’s very little indication of what we can expect from 4.0 right now as work on 3.9 is still under way, we’ve seen a few ideas we found interesting:
Markdown Support
Post Queuing
Revamped Media Library
Improved Categories + Tagging
Custom Post types UI
Post/Page Relationships
Google Glass Integration? 😉
